Artificial Intelligence is quickly becoming a baseline skill across industries, academic programs, and career pathways. CompTIA AI Fundamentals is a three-credit foundational course designed to help learners build practical AI literacy, responsible-use habits, and workplace-ready skills.
This free CompTIA training, sponsored by NAAIC, will provide 100 high school teachers with 50–56 instructional hours of structured digital courseware, hands-on AI practice, integrated assessments, and preparation for the CompTIA AI Fundamentals CompCert. It is designed for non-technical learners and can be used across majors, programs, and disciplines.
Intended Audience
This free self-paced training is for high school teachers in the United States teaching or preparing to teach and incorporate AI concepts into any subject area. No prior AI experience is required!
The Learning Experience
AI Fundamentals gives learners a structured pathway to understand, use, and evaluate AI in academic and workplace settings. Through CompTIA digital courseware, learners will explore:
- AI Literacy: Build a strong foundation in what AI is, how it works, and where it appears in daily life and work.
- Prompt Design: Learn how to write stronger prompts and refine AI outputs for better results.
- Responsible AI Use: Understand ethical use, bias, accuracy, privacy, and human judgment in AI-supported work.
- Output Evaluation: Practice reviewing AI-generated content for quality, reliability, and appropriate use.
- Hands-on AI Practice: Engage with AI simulations, labs, and applied activities with performance feedback.
Course Details
AI Fundamentals is a 50–56-hour foundational AI course designed for a three-credit implementation. Through this CompTIA/NAAIC opportunity, high school teachers will receive access to LMS-ready content, multimedia instruction, interactive learning activities, integrated assessments, and hands-on AI practice.
The teachers accepted into the program are required to attend one live, virtual Welcome Session before beginning the course. This 1.5-hour session will provide an overview of the course structure, completion expectations, CompTIA learning platform, and pathway to earning the CompTIA AI Fundamentals CompCert.
After the Welcome Session, participants will complete the AI Fundamentals coursework independently using CompTIA’s digital course materials.
